Why?

       Our purpose at ANTIQUITY is to provide Pittsburgh with a musical alternative to the already successful club night at CEREMONY.  Our goal is to focus more on the darker and vintage music that has been overshadowed by EBM and Electronic based dark music as of late.  Inspired by night's like LA's RELEASE THE BATS!, ANTIQUITY will pay special attention to vintage Gothic Rock, Death Rock, Post Punk, and a moderate dose of somber Classical music.  Moody 80's New Wave, Shoegazer/Indie Rock, Ethereal, Apocalyptic Folk, and old school Industrial will contribute to the night's aural landscapes as well.  We hope to emphasize the more traditional, Romantic, and emotional aspects that do not seem as significant to the current scene as they once did in the past.   A list of the bands we play can be viewed here.

        ANTIQUITY is designed to be an exclusively Gothic themed night.  But don't assume that this is just another boring 'ethereal'  kind of night - the sinister vocal rumblings, jangling reverberated guitars, driving bass lines, and tribal drum cascades will definitely keep your eyes wide and your groove alive.  And now with a bigger space, dancing will be encouraged and appreciated.

        So venture forth and be reacquainted with the eloquent dreariness and bitter angst of a time when Goth bands actually had drummers and Industrial bands had rhythm.
